A trip to London with the W.I.

Yesterday, once again I went on an exciting day out to London BBC studios to see the recording etc of The Alan Titchmarsh Show. To see the lighting arrangements and the extraordinary number of people involved in this production, is quite amazing.
This outing was arranged by our President of the Minster W.I., Joan,. and everything about the day was perfect.
Even though the programme comes out to us all on ITV., it is recorded at BBC studios at Sheperds Bush.

In all an exciting and most interesting day.

The Passing Years

How amazing is life's span.
Imagine, I'm sure you can.
A baby, first born, perhaps in the morn.
Then one year, two;
a decade later, can you?
As the years pass, in the blink of an eye.
One becomes, twenty, thirty and more.
Until if fortunate, sixty, be the score.
Perhaps, seventy, even eighty, some luckier than
others, as I have said before.
Look at the photos, compare the eyes.
You can see the child in the elderly lined face;
experienced and wise.

I thought these words on looking at my newly born grand grandaughter, born on the
6th November 2009.

The Silver Birch Trees

I have read somewhere that the Silver Birch trees should be called Dancing Ladies.
Outside my window, we are on first floor here at Rivers Court a pretty Silver Birch has orange leaves now at this time of the year and the branches are dancing in the wind and rain. The tree looks quite beautiful, hence the name. I have noted all through the year this tree looks so pretty, but in the autumn best of all.

The Blackbird

Every morning at seven he sits in the tree.
Looking in through the window at me.
I wonder what does he think and see.
As I stand in my kitchen, making my tea.

For Remembrance Sunday

This morning in Ramsgate as I walked along by the harbour, a lovely sunny day, I took note of a plaque on the wall of the Royal Oak Hotel. I took a photo of this plaque as I felt it very worthy of a mention this week, the week of remembrance.
